Happy Medium Books Café came into our lives in the most unusual way. My family (husband Billy, daughter Emma, and son Jake) and I moved to the Riverside/Avondale area in 2022 from Orlando. While walking my dog, I would pass the door to the soon to be open store and wonder if I could work there. As a newly retired teacher and librarian, and being new to the community, I was looking for my next adventure. Little did I know that my inquiry would lead me, not only to a new friendship with Annie (the original owner), but also to becoming the store owner. We are privileged to be able to continue her vision of a community bookstore café, and hope to be a favorite local spot for the Jacksonville community for years to come. It is a joy to meet new people and share the love of books every day.
